We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well organised person to assist in the administration of the provision, monitoring and updating of both the benefits computer systems and recovery of benefit overpayments.
You will deal with customer enquiries, providing advice on the options available, negotiating, arranging and setting up repayment plans.
This is a varied role and you along with responding to ICT system issues, you will also be providing reconciliation and exception reports and investigating benefit overpayment discrepancies and taking the appropriate action.
You will need to be educated to GCSE Grade C or equivalent (in English and Maths), have good Microsoft Office skills and have a good understanding of Data Protection and Freedom of Information issues. You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, liaising with customers in an empathetic and sensitive manner. This role involves regular telephone contact with the public, requiring fluent spoken English.
In addition you must possess some knowledge of the Housing and Council Tax Benefit processes. A detailed knowledge of the benefit overpayments regulations would be an advantage as would experience of debt advice and of benefit systems, although guidance will be given to the right candidate.
