Local Taxation and Benefit Manager

We need you – a dynamic individual with a strong track record - to lead Wealden’s team responsible for the assessment of Benefits, Systems and Overpayments, Council Tax and Business Rates.

You will be expected to give direction to the teams to ensure we collect Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates, make accurate payments of Housing Benefit and Discretionary Housing Payments, manage our local Council Tax Support Scheme and help frame our response to the ever changing Welfare Reform agenda. 

We would like you to be a Member of the IRRV or hold an equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate your continuing professional development.  You will have excellent ICT skills, well developed numerical skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.   Ideally you will have wide experience of managing revenues and benefits including completing Housing Benefit Subsidy claims and Council Tax and NNDR returns for Government to a high standard.

Reporting to the Head of Customer Services, part of your role will be to continue to drive improvements to efficiency and customer service.  You will be expected to help advise Senior Management and elected Members, and work closely with our partners and others within the Council to help Wealden make a positive difference to the lives of our residents.
