The Organisation

The Role

The Revenues and Benefits Service provides vital statutory services to the Council in the assessment and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates and assessment and payment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.  These are challenging times in Revenues and Benefits due to19/

  • The application of different charging polices
  • Changing customer expectations
  • Welfare reform changes and the introduction of Universal Credit.   

The Benefit Team Leader reports directly to the Benefits Manager within the Revenues and Benefits Service.  The Benefits Team Leader is responsible for managing the day to day running of a Benefits Team.

The Person

We would expect candidates to be ambitious Benefits professionals with experience of working in a Benefits environment who are seeking to further their career within Revenues and Benefits.  As well as having good knowledge of Benefits legislation we would expect candidates to have some experience of performance management and target setting. The successful candidate will help to drive through our change programme for the Benefits Team within the Revenues and Benefit Service as we continue to prepare for Universal Credit.  This is a great opportunity for a forward thinking Benefits professional to become actively involved at an exciting time for Revenues and Benefits.

The role will be based in Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
