An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Award Winning Local Tax Team at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as our Senior Business Rates Officer. This is an exciting role where you will be expected to provide a customer focused service overseeing the billing, collection and recovery of Business Rates.
We are looking for an experienced person who is energetic and enthusiastic with appropriate legislative knowledge and IT skills to ensure the correct calculation, billing, collection and recovery of Business Rates, and Business Improvement District (BID) levy, including reliefs and allowances.
You will be one of the Council’s experts in respect of the administration of Business Rates and BID levy, and to ensure that the Business Rates databases are maintained by liaising with internal departments and external agencies as necessary. You will also be required to help the manager ensure that the high work volumes are organised effectively, updating accounts and dealing with queries. You will be customer-focused helping businesses in writing, face-to-face and by telephone.
You will be based at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke near the top of town, a very short walk from Festival Place shopping centre providing plentiful lunchtime shopping and dining choices. The role will involve visiting sites across the borough where an essential user allowance will be paid.
